Poetry For Everyday People
A Writer
My dear tormented,
my experience leads
me to believe you can
write your way out
of hell, the more
your write, the more
you'll reach, the more
you read, the more you'll
feed, write every thing,
write all the time,
don't let a thought
of words go by unwritten,
respect your craft, your need,
always fill your ink with blood,
don't ever write what any one wants
to hear, that's a soul sell out,
hard to ever recover from,
all you can hope for is people
identifying with your journey,
your experience, your utter loneliness,
that connection will keep you going,
write for your pain
but don't forget the one's
without a window,
write without reserve, life's
too dirty, call a killer a
killer, make sure your roses
have water,
write your way some place
you need, build your dream
within these words, be who
you want to be here, now, and
believe me when I tell you:
don't think pain of any kind
could every hurt.
my experience leads
me to believe you can
write your way out
of hell, the more
your write, the more
you'll reach, the more
you read, the more you'll
feed, write every thing,
write all the time,
don't let a thought
of words go by unwritten,
respect your craft, your need,
always fill your ink with blood,
don't ever write what any one wants
to hear, that's a soul sell out,
hard to ever recover from,
all you can hope for is people
identifying with your journey,
your experience, your utter loneliness,
that connection will keep you going,
write for your pain
but don't forget the one's
without a window,
write without reserve, life's
too dirty, call a killer a
killer, make sure your roses
have water,
write your way some place
you need, build your dream
within these words, be who
you want to be here, now, and
believe me when I tell you:
don't think pain of any kind
could every hurt.
