Absent Minded
Don't forget this when you become a bum
don't go to the shopping malls for change
your just ignored
swatted away
like a mosquito thirsty for blood
you might be hungry
but if you want to teach a lesson
go to the red light district
where they roam the streets
go to the liquor stores and wait...
stand outside of those places and remind them what you are
show them the cure to their disease
become a star
show democracy what its problems are,
when every other commercial on the radio is for booze and fast cars
lead the blind like the martyr that you are
and beg for money
outside of strip clubs and busy bars...
you are not chained down by societies laws
sleep in their parking lots
you don't have to follow the rules we live by
so remind us of what it is we have to lose if we go too far
be my hero my martyr teach me something my father never could
wish my alcoholism away and see the money flow in
swear to me you were young once
and danced at the same place
got laid had nice hair
and partied all night long
remind me what you lost and how
sleep in their parking lots
show me what i could become if i go too far
and ask the drunken fools for change
every drink i buy i tip the bartender for my guilty conscience,
why shouldn't i pay you for a life lesson?
and the reality of the conspiracy that you are
shine
your just ignored
swatted away
like a mosquito thirsty for blood
you might be hungry
but if you want to teach a lesson
go to the red light district
where they roam the streets
go to the liquor stores and wait...
stand outside of those places and remind them what you are
