 Pages Of A Woman's Soul

(To Joe LaForest...thank you for the magic)

Clouds fluoresce
in the empty space,
buoyant lights
strung out across
the endless blue expanse.

Alone with you
on a hillside,
streamers of amber atmosphere
lying pale upon our backs,
no sound but the wind
breathing its sigh
in our ears.

We are solitary surveyors
of this moment
that will never return,
visited but once
and then
placed in the river
of memories past
to float
among the pebbles
of wistfulness.
