A Light Was Born

Through the shroud of endless night,
There shone a beacon of purest light.
A signal that marked the birth of hope,
That man in darkness no longer must grope.

The light shone down on innocent child,
Our Lord and King, of mercy mild.
Light shone too, from His holy face,
Full of love and redeeming grace.

As he grew in stature and power,
The light shone brighter each passing hour.
A light so strong it banished fears,
Gladdened hearts, and dried all tears.

This light that was borne so long ago,
Still shines today, a golden glow.
It warms our hearts with love and cheer,
And gives us hope all through the year.
