Oh for the love of children;
For my grandchildren see something in me;
They look at Nannie and tell me oft,
That I am a fairy and beautiful too,
And though I know that its not so,
To them it is honest and true.
I see the beauty in their smile,
And as I gaze upon their face,
I see them in all their glory,
They are full of loving grace.
For they look to me with innocent eyes,
And the love light shines there for me,
As my love shines right back to them,
For they are all that I want them to be!
I love to look upon their faces,
As they awake from a slumber of a morn,
And I take in the beauty in their hearts,
As I shower them with a love, so I adorn!
I love those children so very much,
They are a wonder, a wonder within,
My heart is theirs forevermore,
For this heart they did surely win!
They are the cherubs beheld in the rose bush,
The starlight up in the sky,
And the jewels in the golden crown,
And the twinkles in my eye!
And to look at those sleeping children,
And gaze upon their faces that I adore,
I know that for the rest of my life,
My life is theirs, for evermore…
