Heart Of The Matter
To Leonard, A Tribute
Because of that day,
He begged the Gypsy's wife,
To be for real,
And abandon,
The diamonds in the mine,
To the lost Canadian,
And listen,
To the spoken word poem,
Let's sing another song boys,
In the paper thin hotel,
As night came on,
Embracing democracy,
Discarding the famous blue raincoat,
At closing time,
For there's no way to say goodbye,
To last years man,
So long, Marianne,
Love itself was,
A thousand kisses deep,
And Lady Midnight,
Who by fire,
Destroyed the fingerprints,
At the Chelsea Hotel,
Here it is,
By the rivers dark,
From the tower of song,
To the land of plenty,
And everybody knows,
There ain't no cure for love,
And you have loved enough,
On Boogie Street.
