Reflections of My Perceptions

N E W  Y O R K

New York to me a carnivore
but as commonly stated she has no paws
but given a chance she will eat you, roar
if not leave you in a state of wonderous awe
over time people have stayed within her maw
midst the acids and bacteria, it rains, it pours
her eyes shine bright not to be ignored
especially at night what she most lives for
she hunts not her prey, they come to her
lured by the lights, energy, the blur
certainly not one for those of weak nerve
which is why to her womb I must return
