Poetry For Everyday People

My Hippie Girl

You walked past me
your hair is half
blond half purple,
kind sparkling eyes,
you're wearing sixty's
style sandals, blue
toe nail polish, toe ring,
a white hippie skirt, a
Bob Marley shirt, lots of
shiny rings on your fingers,
a guitar on your back,

I'm walking past you
in a business suite,
tie off, headed for
a cold beer and a memory,

I can't help but
watch you, you notice
me looking, you're beautiful
from head to toe, you smile,
throw me a peace sign, I throw
one back at you,

I wanna stop
walk with you
talk with you,
I wanna tell you
I got one rolled
in my pocket, that
I play guitar too,
that Bob Marley's Redemption Song
"is all I ever had"

we're connected,
we pass each other,
no words needed,
we feel each other,
we're hip down vibe sensitive,

hippie girls
have always been
my angels.
