What God Hath Joined.....

Whatever happened to everlasting love,
Blessed and ordained by God above?
Marriage is just a piece of paper they say,
As more and more couples divorce every day.

"What God hath joined, let no man cut asunder"
Were once words of meaning, awe, and wonder.
We now live in a disposable society, my friend,
A place where even the most sacred of unions can end.

Any marriage has problems from time to time,
But together, no hill is impossible to climb.
Your partner is there to smooth the rough spots,
And unravel those troublesome, tangled knots.

Marriage is built on more than mere love alone,
It's anchored in trust, and deeds that are shown.
If ignored, it begins to weather and fray,
Like any structure ever to see the light of day.

The more you invest in it, the more it returns,
As every wise man and woman soon learns.
Marriage is no game, no "kick" to try for larks,
Attempt it, and you'll soon be swimming with the sharks.

Marriage is a commitment, a promise made from the heart.
Sweeter than honey if kept; broken promises are tart.
So be sure before you ask God to witness your vow;
Think of your future together, not just the here and now.
