Growing Up Packing up the memories Of when I was just a kid Looking back and remembering All the days that I've lived Growing up with no worries Knowing mom and dad will be there Coming home from school To family I knew did care I had nothing to stress about I could go outside and play I didn't have any bills Didn't need to show up at work every day I had my friends I was able to go out and have fun I had chores to do And homework to get done I helped mom cook sometimes Took a shower before it was time to sleep I had nothing to worry about I knew I could count on my family As I entered high school I couldn't wait to grow up To finally be on my own To be with the one I love I only had four years to go Couldn't wait til it was over I wanted to be on my own Couldn't wait til I was older Graduation finally came It went by so fast I started missing so much On my experiences in the past I missed being with my friends I missed school so much I even missed my teachers School pep-rallys and such I missed coming home to family Not have to worry all the time But now I'm all grown up Every choice to make is mine I go to work every day Come home to my own place No one to make me dinner I have to make my own plate I pay my own bills It does get stressful at times But the choices that I make I have to be sure are right I have a man A guy to make me happy And you never know this may be the guy With whom I start my family It's all a part of growing up But don't wish on it too fast Enjoy being a kid Or you'll miss out on so much in your past By: CRYSTAL MARTINEZ Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem |
