Reflections of My Perceptions

These Men

when I see them I wonder how hard
these days must be for them
their glory days no longer so recent
these men
the last americans alive who can say
when they fought it was truthfully
so we today could now be free men
these men
who for so long have stood as an example
of what it means to be men
thus it is my pleasure to please them
these men
who led us out of the depression
and who led the charge against the Axis
eventually pushing the fascists off the deep-end
these men
many of whom alzheimers has made into children
so on others they are now completely dependent
for they've lost the ability to reason
these men
who in spite of time's crippling effects
in my mind still command much respect
which is why now I have chosen to speak and reflect
upon these men
