City Crime

Why must Rachael weep...?
Another child's shot,
    Took my sleep
It's sad to see our future
become our past
Burying precious dreams...
We will not last
Must young men kill young men
and grieve old men's hearts?
Another spot on the ground is found
Ripping mothers apart
Those fools think in order to possess heaven
they must rule hell
Though they roam free
they are locked in jail
Scare to expand their minds beyond
the circle of their head
Before I finish...
     Another child's dead
Plotting and slipping
among the sticks and the bricks
or woods and streets
Another shot is heard...
Broke my sleep
This time little Betty Lou got hit
The caskets are getting smaller
     Internally sick
With the voices of thousands we cry!
Yet they die...yet they die
