Poetry For Everyday People
Our Little Corners
My night stand
my little lamp
blue lamp shade
with flowers,
stack of books,
alarm clock/radio,
set on the classical
station, lilac candle,
keep the angels close,
at times I wonder
about your night stand,
what you have on
it, what books?
what magazines?
what's in your drawers?
all over the world,
beds and night stands,
I remember twenty years
ago my night stand was
a box turned up side
down, an old Jimi Hendrix
banner draped over it,
so much in common,
sitting on the edge
of our beds, setting
our alarm clocks, reading
a little if we're lucky,
as we get under our covers,
a world united, one moon, we
reach over turn off our lamps,
day full,
day full,
ready
to
dream.
my little lamp
blue lamp shade
with flowers,
stack of books,
alarm clock/radio,
set on the classical
station, lilac candle,
keep the angels close,
at times I wonder
about your night stand,
what you have on

day full,
day full,
