AT 5 IN THE MORNING
Up early
Out of bed, a girlie
Who says she loves you
Goes on as you put her through
Living alone
The quiet of no phone
She doesn't want to call you anyway
Today is not her day
At 5 in the morning, she's cold
At 49, feeling as she's an 18 year old
Let's you go on there
Pretends not to care
Sends another man her picture
Who perhaps won't ditch her
When she's crying for more kindness
Hiding in the blindness
Not giving up on looking
On a man that's cooking
Dinner for two
That includes just me and you
He's just a man to date
Give him up and wait
For someone else to take these charms
Wrap them in their staying arms
He's always going to leave
At 5 in the morning, I won't grieve
All week, it's my life, it's free
Where he doesn't have to have me
Don't invite him for Christmas day
He's not welcome, when he don't wanna stay
Forget him on New Year's Eve too
He'll choose her birthday to do
There's lots of lonely men
Who want more than a friend
Ask them for dates
It could change the fates
Of two
Me and him not me and you
At 5 in the morning out of your space
Remember by you's not my place
Realize I better find
Another man who's kind
Who'll grab up my love and live
In the affection and heat I give.
