Sleeping Watch

I have been here now
For more than sixty years
I know all their foibles
Understand their fears
I even mated locally
With so many great joys
We even manufactured
My two beloved boys
Which is now a problem
I'll feel so mean
When they discover
I am alien and green
We are closing the motorways
With their straight run through
To enable our landing
The only thing to do
We are the Guardians
Here to help with the rebirth
Of that battered planet
They call Mother Earth
Together we can rebuild
Hopefully restore
A healthy clean planet
For the species one more
Then maybe we can leave
And in time I can re enter
My sleeping watch
At Galactic Centre
Another crisis over
Just before too late
Maybe I'll have pleasant dreams
Of my offspring and my mate
