Poetry For Everyday People

Gladiators

I can't speak
in terms of relevance
as my heart flickers,
a candle, in time,

kindness is beautiful,

in turn, I haven't been
able to kill a fly, a
roach, a lizard etc...
in many many years,

the day came
when I couldn't
do it anymore,
it used to be easy,
not a second thought,
step on it, kill it,
move on,

now I feel it,
living, looking
for food, shelter
and I just don't
feel the right, to
kill anything,

please don't picture
a fragile man here,

kindness is a warrior,
resilient, tolerant,
ferocious, intuitive,

individuals
making
everyday
stands.
