The Dream of Tristan Tzara

(Tristan Tzara was the artist who launched the DADA
movement in Europe as a reaction against the insanity
of The First World War.)

Zurich, Switzerland-1918
Tristan Tzara woke at dawn on
Tussled sheets soaked in sweat

Vison dreams of dying men
Drowning in a sea of mud
Spewing forth a froth of blood
Holding forth a red red rose

But piercing thorns tore their flesh
And fueled the flames of scorching light
As scavaging birds devoured the night

Awakened by the dreams despair
He reached for water
Drinking long and breathing

Deep sweet Zurich's mountain air--
He read Rousseau
Hoping for a moments peace to know

And watched the blood from the pages flow
