Plea for Peace
I sit down and ponder,
As I start to wonder;
Just where we will be.
In ten or twenty years,
The worse of my fears,
Just what will we see?
For nearly everyday,
Eyes closed as I pray;
While on bended knee.
Asking upon the Lord,
Bring a peaceful accord;
This is my humble plea.
The toil and the trouble,
Daily seems to double;
As it is appearing to me.
Return to us Almighty King,
A New Jerusalem to bring;
Reign over us and to decree.
Let the hostilities to cease,
Making the way for peace;
That is all I ask of Thee.
