Poetry For Everyday People

You Deserve Better

They leave you
to eat potato chips
by yourself, thinking
you did something wrong,
confused, hurt, sick,
that it's your fault, although
your love is true, they
will hurt you again,

and again, love should not prison us
nor put us down, we get lost
trying to create the perfect
romance, then we worry about
time invested?  consider sweat equity
exercise when it comes
to bad relationships, walking out
is rebirth,

if they are hurting us, our
feelings, our respect, I say
off with their heads, let them
get to know them selves, climb
on the pedestal you deserve
and take a look down at them,
uncaring, self absorbed,

don't waste time, energy, tears,
sex, love, on some one hurting
you, magic shouldn't hurt, true love
doesn't put you down nor use you,
throw yourself a kiss in the mirror,
a wink, sit back put your feet up
knowing you're not taken s*hit
from anybody.
