Poetry For Everyday People

Don't Explain

At some point
you have to be
yourself, the
sooner, the better,
make your stand,
stop agreeing,
learn to live
with the loneliness,
liberated, let the
chips fall, join force's
with the moon,
there is no comfort
in pretend, at least
for me, I can't run
with a lie, I know
from experience
that knowing
a lot of people
sells me
short of life,

I'm happy here
content
kissing you
below the ankles,
as I watch you
sit back, fall
into majesty,
relaxed,
guard down,
asking but for
your happiness,
no strings,
no guilt,
words,
music
and
cheer.
