Poetry For Everyday People
Coming Home To A Friend
She walked in
with a look of
the longest day,
walked in her bedroom
I heard the water running,
I heard shoes flying off,
cloth, hair pins, watch, rings,
then I heard the bathroom door
shut,
I got up, lit three candles,
poured her a glass of red wine,
sparkling water on ice with
a lime, the latest Ocean Drive
magazine, I heard the water shut
off, the door open, she walked in
the living room, white bathrobe,
white towel around her head, bare
foot, she doesn't have
to say a word here, she sat down on
the sofa next to me, took a big sip of
sparkling water, took a deep breath,
grabbed her wine glass, Ocean Drive magazine,
rested her back on the sofa's arm rest, put
her feet on my lap, started flipping threw the
pages, drinking her wine.
with a look of
the longest day,
walked in her bedroom
I heard the water running,
I heard shoes flying off,
cloth, hair pins, watch, rings,
then I heard the bathroom door
shut,
I got up, lit three candles,
poured her a glass of red wine,
sparkling water on ice with
a lime, the latest Ocean Drive
magazine, I heard the water shut
off, the door open, she walked in
the living room, white bathrobe,

rested her back on the sofa's arm rest, put
her feet on my lap, started flipping threw the
