Absent Minded

She Heard Him Scream In Pain

She opens the book
it is tattered and torn
with its cool cold look
to touch its quite warm.

She opens the hinges
with her skeleton key
The old man gave it to her
The key was free.

Looking for the passage
hidden after the twilight
searching for the cursed mirror and chamber
her lantern by her side.

There in the library
behind the grandfather clock,
the inscription for a clue
she found it had stopped.

Looking for a book
only one not to read
something that wrote itself
and for each one differently.

Upon the eleventh hour,
the clock did chime,
It was midnight
and it was frozen in time.

Deep beneath the castle stairs
in a maze without a ma,
The legendary enchantment of her castle
had already planned.

The lantern she held tightly dropped shattering
to the whispering which called her name
An adventure of the heart
She heard him scream in pain

Searching for the mirrror
A shown reflection
setting someone free,
a haunted enchantment of her castle
invited her to dream.
