Poetry For Everyday People
Sister Lynn
She is a star,
always shinny,
my close friend,
my sister, my drinking
smoking buddy, we played
guitar, she sang Bonnie Raitt,
I tried to play like Dicky Betts,
we wrote songs, poems, had each
others back,
she was wise, strong, still is
I'm sure, cold bud to start her
day, Evan Williams to finish the
night, she was bare foot as much
as possible yet some how the bottoms
of her feet were always clean, I read'em
like a palm, she laid her head on my lap, her
feet, she would sleep for hours and I didn't
have the heart to move her, I would just
stay, listen to her sleep, she always read
the news paper at the kitchen table,
cup of coffee, beer, hope always,
baking bread
folding laundry
oh baby
the poems you
taught me.
always shinny,
my close friend,
my sister, my drinking
smoking buddy, we played
