It's For Fools
With whom does first love fool?
Likely it is both.
Lovers do not posses the tools,
For fixing what is broke.
In time our ways will all beget,
The etchings of our cast,
And all at once we'll soon forget,
Our medals of the past.
But never let this thieving ghost
Remove us from ourselves,
Be strong of heart and value most,
What keeps you to yourself.
Remember well those lustful nights,
Of rosy blooms and dancing lights,
Conjure forth those days of old;
Memories of which we've sold.
