The Road Ahead
A terrible thing to love and want.
Not happy with what you give.
But for her it's all a tainted jaunt.
A terrible way to live.
I claimed the wood that built our fire.
In hoping things would work again.
But for her life's ruled by blind desire.
I claimed to know it then.
I starred in every play she wrote.
Forced to play the miser.
But for her she rends the starring line; I quote
'I starred in what was wiser.'
To show my love I proved my rights.
'All your rights are wrong.' she said.
But for her the stars are headlights
To show the road ahead.
