Poetry For Everyday People

Bennett

My brother
from what seems
a million years

the beautiful times
from South Beach to
New York to Myrtle Beach,

not a beer goes down
when I don't think
of all the times
all the music
all the bars
all the friends
we made,
all the great food,
cigars in Key West,

the incredible
Frisbee toss
outside the meadow lands
tailgating,
Bobby Jean,
Pirate Looks At Forty,
your eyes big as the moon
as you walked towards me
with two front row seats
to see Bruce acoustic,

well I just turned forty
brother and I was thinking
about the hall of fame
Frisbee toss, all the nights
all the bars, all the good good
times,

sitting back
drinking a cold one
thinking it's time
to boil some shrimp.
