Snake

Snake
              sinuously sliding scales
         rasp
               across  desert sand
tongue flicks in and out
                to taste and sample air
    detects food there
snake
       arches
        swiftly strikes
 fangs inject an end
snake
            swallows and ingests
still living prey
        then sleeps the day
   snake
             kills to survive
  to eat or stay alive
                unlike man
  which kills
                because it can
