Heart Of The Matter
Sleep Eludes Me
Sleep eludes me,
Again I lie awake,
The sun has left to bring your day,
And here, I keep watch on an August moon,
That seems to shimmer,
For my sake,
From my window,
I look out to the Stirlingshire hills,
Their beauty silhouetted,
In the moonlit sky,
I welcome my evening insomnia,
And feel a sense of rapture,
A quiet smile, Yes, I'm happy,
But in a sense, I'm unsure why,
How silent the moon,
As it watches over me,
A loyal and constant companion,
Faithful to the cause,
Of heart worn and abandoned lovers,
Yet I feel no abandonment,
For your love reaches me,
Tempting and torturing,
In its extreme,
And soon it will be gone,
The moon will seek you, my love,
Proclaiming its secret code,
In your darkening skies,
And I will watch the morning glory,
With unsuspecting eyes.
