Death

How I mourn the loss of you
My once ever present companion
I slowly watched you slip away
A victim of beliefs' abandon

O' how I should have nurtured you
Protected your innocent being
For I know, the error was mine
Through two eyes that were not seeing

Silently you wept your tears
A warning that I was not heeding
Instead of acting so foolishly....
My poor heart, I left you bleeding
