Heart Of The Matter

One Of Those Days

There are some days,
We all have them,
When it just feels so damned good to be alive,
We awake refreshed,
The sun shines, the sky a wonderful blue,
And everything feels bright and new,

I had one of those days today,
I drove way up into the hills,
And marvelled at the countryside en route,
The lush, green fields seem to go on forever,
And every turn on that long winding road,
Presented yet another wondrous site to behold,

My God, those mountains stood so proud,
The trees, those tall mountain pines,
Magnificent against the azure sky,
Unperturbed by delicate puffball clouds,
Only casting their shadow on the high hill,
Animating the landscape further still,

I reached my destination invigorated and refreshed,
Pulled over, and spent some time in deep thought,
Oh, those deep waters of that wonderful loch,
The sky mirroring its cobalt hue,
Shimmering, vibrant, in the midday sun,

I walked on the shore,
And listened to the water gently lapping,
Each wave a tender caress for the soul,

I had dinner with a friend at five,
And it was just one of those days,

When it feels so damn good to be alive …

(thank you, my friend, I think we both needed this today)

Love and Light,
Linda X
