Poetry For Everyday People

Angel Knocking

You do a great job
undressing me
but can you cover
what hurts?
can you quilt
my pain? simmer
my memories dry?

your eyes are beautiful
or is that me in them?
how do you manage to
love me so much?

rose petals at my
feet, kisses, magic,
tender kindness
I'm starting to think
it's real, I snap my
fingers to wake up,
you place a pillow
behind my back,

you're my?
I know you're real,
you tell me I deserve
you and I am starting
to think I do?

how can you read
the bottoms of my
feet like a palm
and know rain
makes me feel safe?

who ever took time
to read the bottoms
of my feet?
