Through The Eyes Of A Poet...

I'm Sorry Mum!

Mum, I was behaving I really was,
Just as you taught me too,
You are always thinking of others,
And help out in all you do.
I needed so much to tell you mum,
That I love you with all my heart!
And I never knew, nor thought about,
Us ever having to part!

As is life, we have separated,
And we will begin anew,
But I wanted to tell you I love you so,
For loving me as you do.
I didn't want to say goodbye,
It wasn't in my plans,
But sadly lives are taken!
And it's totally out of our hands.

It wasn't supposed to happen,
Mum, I'm lying here in fear,
I'm feeling fuzzy and funny mum;
I can't think straight, my heads not clear.
Mum, I wanted to tell you,
All these things in my head
I'm pleading so, not to go...
Because I don't want to be dead!

It wasn't my fault at all mum!
And I didn't drink and drive!
But the man who hit us in his car,
Is over there, he's still alive!
He's torn us apart and hurt us,
Because he decided to drink and drive,
If he hadn't been so selfish!
I would still be alive!

So here I am, in such a mess,
Lying dead in the road alone,
Mum, I didn't want to die,
While you were waiting for me at home!
As I left the house tonight,
Your last words to me where-
'Be careful, I love you, see you later.'
But mum, I won't be there!

I can see you running towards me mum,
Tears streaming down your face,
I want to hug you, and to hold you close,
Before I drift silently to that place!
The feelings so calm and comforting mum,
I'm not scared and I want to you know,
I'll be at your side forever...
No matter where you go.

You always told me to be careful,
And never to drink and drive,
And mum, I didn't, it wasn't my fault,
That I'm no longer alive!
All these things I wanted to tell you,
But I can't, is it all down to fate?
I'm going now mum, and I'm sorry,
That you were told too late

I'll forever be at your side mum,
Of that, never fear,
And when you're looking for me,
Always know that I'm so near!
In your heart you have a church,
A temple of love it is too,
When you think of me there I'll be,
Watching over you!

I have my arms around you, mum,
And as I see many a tear in your eye,
I whisper in your ears mum;
'I'll always love you,' as I'm saying goodbye!

Don't you drink and drive today…
Don't be a fool,
For a drunk in a car-
Is a dangerous tool!
