Heart Of The Matter
Don't Climb Too High, Too Soon
Don't climb too high,
Too swiftly,
For all too soon,
We reach the summit,
And with some satisfaction,
We look down on the world below,
We see where we've been,
Who we've hurt along the way,
The stepping stones we used to reach the top,
We see it all from the great height,
We see those we loved,
Those we let go,
We wallow in the valley of regret,
Because, foolishly,
We didn't let them know.
Don't climb too high,
Too soon,
Linger a while on the mountainside,
Open your heart in truth,
And confess ….
To those you love.
The mountain top is closer than you think,
We all run out of hills to climb,
And once we reach the precipice,
Gravity brings us down.
