The Season Is Turning

The season is turning,
Late summer's evening chill descends,
And soon, the trees will change colour,
Bold and vibrant in decline,
The leaves will wither, die,
And lay discarded on the ground,

Darkness settles early,
Yet brings some comfort,
A sense of peace and calm befriends me,
No more the sound of idle chatter,
From nearby gardens,
Or sweet scented balconies,
The night is still,

And all is well with me,
As I bid summer memories farewell,
Memories of love lost and found,
And new friendships formed,
Held in warmth, and nurtured in trust,

I now prepare for Autumns song,
It's brief sojourn playing its own sweet melody,
And I will dance to its tune,
As summer slips silently from sight.
