"Where Have You Gone?"
Memories and photographs -- both real and visionary,
are they keepsakes or only for safe keeping?
New emotions and feelings have been taken for granted,
are these just my dreams or have I only been sleeping?
I don't understand -- I'm at a complete loss,
has she forgotten what were her needs and wants?
Has she been so taken in by all of the new attention,
or is she just putting up one of her fronts?
At one point she knew what was most important,
she nurtured and thrived,
she developed and flourished.
So determined she was, she threw away the gold,
not too long ago I admired
and respected what she had accomplished.
With her eyes wide open and her arms spread wide,
she destroyed her commitment,
and set out to seize.
Now with her ears shut tight and her heart so negative and cold,
"don't do unto others",
just do as I please !
Growing ever closer, seemed so sincere and real,
her independence and freedom
were originally sought.
Simultaneous desire for another -- how could she feel?
a new replicated dependence
is the antidote she has now bought.
Drained of all my resources,
took responsibility for all my acts,
the "Papers" clearly agree.
Do it for the sake of our kids,
and all that they lack,
I do -- but does she?
Just close your pretty blue eyes, leave your soul at home,
distract all your senses,
take your reasoning as fact.
Your heart may mend with your love as it's cure,
but girl, don't you ever,
ever look back !!!!!
