Belize, Central America
Celebrating my country's Independence Day-Sept. 21/01
I'm proud to claim the heritage I bear
I'm a daughter of that sweet land we share
Through twenty five years of Belize's past
When our loyalties remained steadfast
I was there through it I'm proud to say
As our brave folks struggled come what may
When Hurricane Hattie threw us in a spin
I was there through the thick and thin
I was there I'm proud to relay
When England sent her army down our way
To achieve Independence to be on our own
The citizen's requests were then made known
Slowly our virgen land became modernized
Roads, highways and transportation were stabilized
I was there as our country stood tall
With admiring eyes I can now recall
Belizeans rallied together giving up their best
From North to South and East to West
The voices of our fearless leaders rang out
To still the despair of our youths shouts
We gather together to celebrate with glee
Proclaiming at last our joyous victory
