Knew It All Along
Knew It All Along
I knew it all along
that you were all I wanted
it has become clear
through ups and downs
you are the only one I want near
all the pain it made us grow strong
the scars inside have made us beautiful
we are individuals
but in our hearts we think as one
so gladly I accept
this engraved invitation
from your lips to my heart
I look forward to all the new memories
soon we will start
going it alone in my mind I just can't fathom
for you hold my soul in the cradle of your hand
I know sometimes I ain't easy
but you still stand beside me
you are still proud to be my man
and for that you don't how I am grateful
oh I awake and you are incubated in me
knowing all the while we are always free to leave
but love has remained through all our phrases
permanent, enduring
looking back and realizing
I knew it all along.....
