This poem is dedicated to my beautiful,
very talented daughter. When she was
born I dedicated her to the Lord.
Her name is Angela and this is for her.
I watched you chasing butterflies,
across the yard that spring.
You were only three,
but into everything.
Your hair was the color of straw,
those brown eyes had a glow.
Little did I realize,
little did I know.
I watched you sleeping.
all your babies tucked in tight.
My threadbare heart,
beamed at the sight.
Your gentle smile made me strong,
your laughter it would flow.
little did I realize, how fast you would grow.
I watched you primping before my mirror,
just before you went to school,
and remember thinking, how I was such a fool.
Your body grew and so did your mind,
it seemed to quick to measure,
moments spent watching you, were only mine to treasure.
I watched you leaving going off to college,
sesperately trying to hold back the tears,
how beautiful you had grown, all those many years.
Your faith is strong, your heart steadfast,
yet there are times I see,
butterflies and you chasing them, at the age of three.
