Reflections of My Perceptions

For The Children...

No child left behind…. But who is behind the children?
Who's there to push and will them
So they can believe they can achieve before the b******* kills them?
Who will provide the blocks necessary to build them,
so they can hope of rising above to become that one in a million?
Who will instill them with the confidence to know they can still win
In spite of the disease and destitution which threatens to kill them?
Who will keep fighting so they can learn and play before maturity steals them
And who will not stop fighting until then?
I'm about to drop a Lil Kim and Lauren Hill them
And if that sounds too feminine, this poem is a pill then
Designed to fight off the ailments which ill them
my crusade is on their behalf, you can consider me a pilgrim

So you can bob your heads as I weave like Marley and Dylan
As I administer my own form of social penicillin
To this cold world in desperate need of Benadryl'n
Chilling, this state of mind, senseless blood spilling
Overkill got cemeteries overfilling, prophecy self-fulfilling
Everybody's following, to lead, few are willing
Because on the way to the bright lights, big city, we forgot that it takes village
We allowed the education system to be pillaged
And allowed the family's importance to be diminished
And also forgot the true definition of good living
So it's now associated with blinging, money, clothes, rims spinning
When it used to be about being good to one another as men and women

So is there rice in China? Is there crime in Brooklyn?
Am I So Many Stylz, or am I mistooken?
Is mistooken even a word or just some b******* I put in
Just to add a little flavor to this poetic pudding?
Why should I continue to hide behind the Bushes?
Why not expose myself and these lies, by George, and keep on pushing?
Why not keep babbling until I am brooking
While the lights are shining, and everyone is looking?

I want to form an alliance with the microphone appliance
And supply my science for the youth to apply it
So their small minds can grow, and they become intellectual giants
So their strong minds allow them to become self reliant
And just for a moment I want everyone to be quiet
Shhhhhhhhh!!!!!
So my sound waves can crash and break the moments of silence
For those who have been lost in moments of violence
consider this poem an act of defiance
because of the negative attitude being sold, i don't buy it

These poetic sentences are merely my appendages
So I can reach out and touch minds, ignorance is my nemesis
I'm taking my case to the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives
Because the political approach has been far too tentative
and the focus is on punishment rather than the preventative
when they know prevention is better than cure, and a lot less expensive
the revolving prison door is an industry, so there is far more emphasis
but if more was spent on education, criminals might find alternative entrances

We do not need debates, we are in need of a remedies
This is not only about today, our future is in jeopardy
I hope these words are found and recognized to be truthful, self evident
So the welfare of children becomes a constitutional amendment
But it goes back to the family and parents, on you children are dependent
And in the supreme court of my opinion, you are the defendants
So I have delivered my judgement, unrepentant
And and ask that you remember the content, not just the metaphorical invention
