What Makes a Writer?

What makes a writer, wielder of the pen,
they are people who try to live again.
There has been great joy in their life,
they have to have felt anger and strife.
Most have been close to death before,
it seems we have a lot, but always want more.
Strong emotions charge their imagination,
They have curious minds, prone to fascination.
All that is darkness, all that is light,
that's what makes the poet write.
