For so many years
we had a tight bond
we would talk and laugh all night long
but somewhere in the midst
of life and business
we lost touch
words were said angrily
a single big fight
and we stopped so selfishly to stew
if I could take back words
in a heartbeat I would
if we only could have knew.....
Timing was off
when is it perfect?
and before we realized
precious moments escaped
all the time in the world means nothing
if it goes by wasted
what is so firm in foundation
if not taken care of
will one day be found melting
and good intentions are met with a sigh
as another year goes by
around the corner
I expected one day to see you waiting
but alas time lost patience
and I can dream of times past
but the images only briefly stay
they never can last....it's no longer reality
so many days I could have called
so many months I was stubborn
and waited by the phone
but another year has went by
I finally get a telephone call
it's the one I wish I never answered
it tells me you are gone.....
