Water Smooth as Glass
~Leona's Sinature Directory~
Yesterday when I was young
The entire world lay at my feet
But not one challenge then
Did I ever fail to meet?
Never thought of growing old
I was young wild and free
And no doubt of a tomorrow
Ever once bothered me
I rode the wind carelessly
Grabbed a different star each night
But never thought of loneliness
Love was always there in sight
I cried at this and laughed at that
Then dreamt each night away
And never thought of memories
I might recall another day
I stare at my reflection
Each ripple one more year
But as the water slowly calms
The years will disappear
Erasing wrinkles from my brow
Replacing hair once gold
And letting me feel one more time
I never will grow old
For when the waters smooth as glass
I see that young girl still
And she's smiling back at me
As my tears begin to spill
Their causing ripples once again
As memories now pass
But knowing she'll be back again
When the waters smooth as glass
