 Falling Asleep On The Motorway

Whenever I go to the cinema,
no matter what film I see.
There is one thing of which I'm certain,
something I'll guarantee.

I always fall asleep.

The same thing happens every day,
it's my body-clock I think,
but about 6.20pm each evening,
when watching the t.v.

I always fall asleep.

It's not that I'm particularly tired.
Maybe it's just my age.
Ten minutes or so is all I need,
and then I am awake.

This is alright when watching a film at the cinema,
although I sometimes lose the plot.
Or if I miss the end of a television programme,
it doesn't matter a lot.

But I had the same feeling that I get at the cinema,
when driving recently.
And although I realized the danger,
and knew what could happen to me.

I fell asleep.

What are you doing?
Val asked me.
As we wandered over the line.
I opened my eyes gently,
and straightened up the car.

Just dozing.
I said.

If she hadn't been there to wake me,
guaranteed,
I'd now be in a hospital bed.

Or lying in my coffin,
dead.

Sweet dreams......
