The first time I read any of Robert Frost's poetry was in high school. Even at a young age I understood what the poet was writing about. One of the most beautiful pieces I think he ever wrote was Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. I can still word for word recite the poem. There is darkness in the poem, but yet triumph as well. He will be missed by the Mistress. Sleep well my friend, you kept your promises. Susan
Alas he writes no more,
he has reached his homeland's shore.
The darkness has taken his gentle soul to the other side,
and in knowing this the Mistress cried.
We are kindred spirits, he and I,
he was always shout and I am gentle sigh.
I his pupil, ever looking for hidden meaning,
fathoming his thoughts, absorbed in gleaning.
What things he taught me of life and love,
he teaches now to those above.
Those lessons I learned I will ever keep,
your miles are over, now you may sleep.
