The Mistress of Word Play

He came from the kingdom of light,
where darkness never came, his realm saw no night.
The painting image still swam in his head,
he swore he would have her, to take to his bed.

The thought of her consumed every waking hour,
a tiny seed of love started to grow into a flower.
The prince could not eat, nor could his mind rest,
until he could lay his head down on the young maiden's breast.

His advisors did chide him and bid him, "Please stay."
Yet the young prince he told them, "I'll have her someday."
He bid his loyal servants to prepare his best steed,
and he brushed them away and paid them no heed.

They had warned him about the Queen's power,
but the seed of love grew and started to flower.
So he left his palace, said farewell to his home,
and on his black steed, he started to roam.

He was from the Land of Light,
and he had been captured by her sight,
so he left to find her, went into the night.
