Alas, who knows who can conceive,
why lovers never will believe,
two hearts can break so easily.
Yes, my love it's come to you and me.
I love you still, but don't know why,
you will never see these tears I cry.
Please understand this as I do,
love had found me and you.

Alas, who knows why we ran,
who can remember when it began,
and finally where the dream might end,
just to begin and end again.
The Lord he knows and only he,
can make love what it should be.
The time has come for me to leave,
and I pray one day that you will believe.

Alas, who knows what we might have found,
if we had but stayed and held our ground,
instead of walking away from love.
I feel the angels crying up above,
for dreams which should and might have been,
if we had tried to live again,
and looked for magic in each others eyes,
but alas love holds so many whys.
