 DEFINING LOVE
The love that has shown through
Thick and thin
Is not from you
It's from other men

Who can see
They are strong
A dad to me
With love that's long

The first one sets by example
Let me observe him for five years
His loving form is ample
Honest and kind although he fears

My disloyalty
My disregard
Won't be his wife to be
No matter how hard

I try to please him
Couple years showed him faithfulness
Know I tease him
Well, there is us

It is a love that's pure
A decade and a half
Even if I am not her
I still can make him laugh

The second one's an adopted brother
His first name's Robert too
His wife is like my mother
He's a strong dad to me that's true

Because he is like my father
Even though he's ten years younger
Sometimes I am his bother
Still in them safe parents to feed the hunger

First one's as my daddy too
Plays grownup games with this little girl
Fifteen years seen my passion through
Deep in his shell, I am a pearl

You are not on the list
To me, your example is forewarning
That if by you I am kissed
The dark won't be followed by the light of morning

Defining love in it's true form
Not something sentimental
It's feeling sun after the storm
And your heat is incidental

Not consistently inconsistent
Not here to call and get care back
It's more you're an assistant
To the loving way your body can act

Not my dad or my life line
Not willing to save any part of me
Not tuned to my flowing music line
That's why I will stay free

So when you say, "I'll think about it"
Maybe mostly means "no way"
Few days for you to clout it
While I won't be in your way

Because I've learned
The price of love is very high
If I fly to you to be burned
You can bet I'm going to cry

Love's meaning is just seeing
That you give up yourself for the other
More concerned about their being
As though a kind and loving mother

Last date, what did you give?
A few hours of your time
Then head on home to live
While I care for me and my rhyme

Can't even say thank you for dinner
Don't even say thank you for drinks
Forget I let you be the winner
of this ship, while you do nothing as she sinks

Well, no more of that
I speak my mind to understand
While I am no more than a brat
I wear these rings for it to stand

That I love you and I am taken
While if I'm pressured, I will give in
So if your love is there forsaken
It's okay without you, love, I'll still be livin'.
