A Year After Katrina
New Orleans got hit hard
Katrina packed a mighty punch,
Families got strewn about
No time to go anywhere and hunch.
The waters came crashing
Over walls, that were supposed to protect,
Lives and hearts, are still torn apart
The mess hasn't been cleaned up yet.
Families make a new living
In places, that weren't known,
All they want, is to have their lives back
And to be able to go back to their home.
A year after Katrina
So many lives were lost,
It's a shame, how the walls were torn down
By waves and things that were tossed.

In memory of those who could have been saved. May the hearts and souls of the living, find their way back home.
