Damned Both Ways

Damned if I do and damned if I don't
If it works on one hand, on the other hand it won't
Two doors to enter in, but none to exit out
No decision can be made beyond the shadow of doubt
One thinks it's great, the other thinks it's a shame
The only thing there is in common is who's to blame
Are there no two roads that lead to the same place
Can happiness and sorrow be found on the same face
Why has this situation attached itself to me
Every direction I turn that's all I can see
Damned on both sides, losing at both ends
Having friends of enemies instead of friends of friends
To do the right thing is to do the wrong thing
To do the wrong thing would be to do no thing
Somebody has got to win as long as it's not me
Because if I win somebody is not going to be happy
If winning and losing is the point of the game
How does a winner and loser end up the same
If the goal of the struggle is to abtain peace
And the struggle of the goal is considered the least
Then people like me, no matter what we do
Will never be appreciated for what we go through
So then this is my fate til the end of my days
Turn left or turn right, I'm still damned both ways
