Now every time I need a word,
With my God about my plight!
It's always in my bedroom,
In the darkest hours of night!
So this night I said my prayers,
And started to bless myself true,
And gave a little giggle,
Over what it is I do!
I say; ‘God, are you up there tonight?
Cos I need a word or two!
And I know that you are busy,
But I'm waiting as I usually do!'
Then I looked up to the ceiling,
To the light-shade hanging down!
And said to God, while laughing!
‘God, are you ever coming down?'
You see, we have these chats all the time,
But this time I laughed all night!
Cos as I looked up to the ceiling,
I got a flippin' fright!
So I looked to the light-shade, and said;
‘God, everyone's gona think I'm mad!
Cos I'm talking to a light-shade!
Now isn't that just sad!'
For in my minds eye, I have to say;
God's sitting up there looking at me,
Peeping over the light-shade!
As giggly as can be!
Then I thought I saw a flash of light,
And near fell outa my bed!
Cos I thought I saw Him peeping,
But it was only a shadow instead!
Then I heard a giggle from Him,
And he said; ‘Catherine, you are mad!
Thinking I'm inside the light-shade!
Now what a silly thought you had!'
‘But God,' I said while laughing!
‘I know that I'm mad just lately!
And after all, it aint my fault!
Cos that's they way you made me!
I mean to say, I focus there,
I do, every single night!
And one day I'm sure you'll peep over!
And I will die of fright!'
So when I want to chat with me God!
I still look to the ceiling above!
And stare that light-shade out!
As I offer up my love!
And now each night as I start to pray,
I shout out; God, are ye there tonight?
And if you are, don't scare me!
Cos I don't wana die of fright!
And if you think I'm stupid,
For focusing on my light,
Its cos that's where I imagine you,
In my bedroom in the dark of night!'
‘Catherine!!' I heard Him bellow!
‘I think that this is great!
Talking to me in the light-shade!
I'm laughing myself into a state!'
‘Well thank you very much for that!'
I laughed back to my God!
And thanked him for my chat again!
Cos He's still a very busy bod!
And yep, I still look to the light-shade,
As I start to say my prayers,
And ask for the blessings for everyone,
And tell Him of my fears!
And yep, He always listens,
Even when I don't see Him about!
But I know within my heart so true,
He will always help me out!
